Over the weekend, Channel 10‘s Survivor: Australia v The World aired its grand finale episode on Sunday, which saw Pavati Shallow claim the win and walk away with $250,000.
The veteran player secured the title of Sole Survivor, cementing her place as one of the greatest in Survivor history. She defeated Australian players Luke Toki and Janine Allis after a season that brought together 14 of the franchise’s biggest names from around the globe.
“This is my final time playing Survivor, so to have been awarded the win from the jury is like the sweetest moment,” Shallow said.
“I’m so grateful to have been a part of this incredible experience of Australia V The World… there is something about this game that just gets in my blood. I feel like I was born to play Survivor“.
While Survivor made waves with Shallow’s crowning, The Block and the AFL won the Ratings, with a Total TV National Reach of 2,767,000 for Nine and 2,768,000 for Seven.
Episode 25 marked the halfway point for The Block’s Season 21, always an intense time for teams.
The episode featured some seriously stressed Blockheads. House 5’s worst flooring fears came true when the news that not enough stock for both them and House 1 to have completed herringbone floors this week came in.
After Robby and Mat’s nine total wins in challenges, the other Blockheads’ jealousy reached its zenith, with Alicia and Britt concocting a potion featuring white paint aimed at sabotaging their floors.
And just like that, Robby and Mat’s flooring Plan B went horribly wrong, leaving one half of their room completely floorboardless.
By the end of the episode, the witchcraft seemed to have worked, with Robby and Mat scoring the lowest, with 18 points, and Han and Can taking out the top point, with 29.25, a relief after so many hurdles for the duo.
On Saturday night, Aussies tuned in to watch the AFL on Seven.
The game saw the Gold Coast Suns take home the finals win over the Fremantle Dockers in the last 10 seconds.
With Mac Andrew’s clutch goal with 72 seconds left tying the scores in Saturday night’s elimination final in Perth, Swallow then thought he’d delivered the biggest goal in Suns history with just nine seconds to play to send the club through to a semi-final.
While it was determined the goal was touched on the mark by review, the point was enough to seal the 11.14 (80) to 12.7 (79) victory at Optus Stadium.
Seven’s The Voice brought in a Total TV National Reach of 2,065,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 944,000 on Sunday.
