Last night’s ARIAs drew a respectable 500,000 for host broadcaster Nine, however, the annual music gong fest still had to play second fiddle to the ABC’s dominant comedy offerings of Hard Quiz and Shaun Micallef’s Mad As Hell.
Once again, Hard Quiz was the most watched entertainment show of the evening, pulling an impressive 742,000. While 719,000 continued with Micallef’s merriment.
Despite all that, Seven won Wednesday with 30.6 per cent of the audience share. Nine was second with 27.4 per cent, the ABC stole third with an impressive 20.1 per cent. 10 took 15.3 per cent and SBS had a mere 6.6 per cent.
Seven’s night ran thus: 6pm news (996,000), Today Tonight (975,000), Border Security: Australia’s Front Line (613,000), Home And Away (597,000), Emergency Call (550,000), The Chase (540,000) and 9-1-1 (433,000).
Nine’s night was dominated by its ARIAs coverage, however, its 6pm news (900,000), ACA (742,000) and Hot Seat (442,000) were its other standouts.
10’s best was The Project which pulled 436,000 and was the 18th most watched show of the night. 10 News First pulled 432,000 and Jamie And The Nonnas had 330,000.
Its comedy shows aside, the ABC’s other standouts were its 7pm news with 711,000, 7.30 with 620,000 and Tomorrow Tonight with 442,000 and Adam Hills The Last Leg with 252,000.
Over at the SBS, its best was another repeat of Great British Railway Journeys that pulled 189,000.
