GroupM agency Wavemaker Australia is leading the industry in new business and retention for the first half of 2022, according to COMvergence’s latest New Business Barometer (NBB) and RECMA’s annual new business rankings.
COMvergence – an independent and international research bureau measuring the performance of major global ad and media agencies – ranked Wavemaker Australia first in total new business among all Australian agencies, with a calculated value of AU$76 million, spread across five account wins.
RECMA reports similar rankings, with Wavemaker Australia first on estimated new business billings of AU$161 million between July last year and August of this year. Audible was the biggest win for Wavemaker. But the retention of the Mondelez account, valued at AU$50 million in August, was not included in those rankings.
In addition, GroupM ranked first among Australian agency groups in COMvergence’s rankings, with 11 new business wins and a total calculated value of AU$104 million for the period.
Peter Vogel, CEO of Wavemaker Australia & New Zealand, said: “2022 has been a huge year for Wavemaker as we continue to develop our Positive Provocation ethos. Our new business performance reflects the appeal of our offering and vision to marketing decision-makers and we are grateful to all our clients who put their trust in us to help them provoke growth for their businesses. We are committed to keep delivering on that promise and as market conditions get tougher, we simply have to get smarter.”
