Walt Disney has appointed Carol Choi as president of Asia Pacific. In December, she will succeed Luke Kang, who retires after 16 years with the company.
The Walt Disney Company Australia and New Zealand is led by Kylie Watson-Wheeler, who will report into Choi.
Choi has spent the past 20 years with Disney and is the executive vice president across APAC.
In her current post, she has overseen the region’s studio operations, original content strategy and integrated marketing.
In her new role, Choi takes the reins of Disney Entertainment’s operations from studios and Disney+ to locally produced originals, content sales, media networks and consumer products across Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia.
“Carol Choi is a proven Disney leader with broad operating experience, strong creative instincts, and a deep understanding of the region, and she is the perfect person to lead the organisation into its next chapter,” said Alan Bergman, chair of Disney Entertainment, Studios and Jimmy Pitaro, chair of ESPN.
