Twitch Bolsters ANZ Sales Team With New Hires

Twitch has bolstered its ANZ sales team with the hiring of two Australian account directors, in addition to an account director and dedicated account manager for New Zealand.

Hamish McPhee joins Twitch as an Account Director for the Victorian and South Australian markets following a 9-year tenure in News Corp’s national sales team in Melbourne, most recently as Group Sales Director. Hamish joins Account Director Adam Lung and Account Manager Michael Ison who are in the market managing commercial partnerships across ANZ. Interviews are underway for another Sydney-based Account Director to look after growing clientele in New South Wales, Queensland, and Western Australia.

The new hires will work with Ricky Chanana, head of sales ANZ, helping to connect brands with highly engaged, hard-to-reach Millennial and Generation Z audiences—Twitch’s research shows over one-third (39%) of its audience is unreachable through traditional television.

Chanana said: “Since kicking off ANZ operations seven-months ago, the team has gone from strength-to-strength and we’ve seen record-high levels of engagement in streamers, viewers and hours watched. With the expansion of our sales team, we’re eager to continue this momentum and solidify Twitch’s position as a ‘must-have’ channel for brands, advertisers and media alike.”

“The recent influx of non-gaming content, especially from the music, entertainment and sports industries, will only show more brands that Twitch is a valuable and diverse option for marketing and advertising efforts. Twitch is revolutionising entertainment across the globe with our massive, highly engaged community of fans and creators, and our sights are set on becoming one of Australia’s biggest media networks.”

Since regional operations launched in January 2020, Twitch’s ANZ sales team has grown by 125 per cent, run successful campaigns with the likes of Sony, Dell, Mars Wrigley 5 Gum, Dare Iced Coffee and UnLtd, and cemented partnership deals with brands such as the National Basketball League.
