Over three million Aussies had the thirst for drama last night, tuning into the first Married At First Sight dinner party of the season. The total TV national average audience of 1,784,000 was not disappointed as the claws were out.
The two biggest personalities Bec and Gia pulled out all the stops overnight to try and one up one another’s relationships.
For Gia, she peacocked the physical attraction that she has with groom Scott. To try and spark the conversation with the other brides and grooms she kept asking various people if they had slept with their counterparts.
She found that she was one of three couples that had cemented their marriage, and one of those were her arch nemesis in Bec. Once she made this discovery she blurted out to the whole table making sure Bec heard it that she and Scott have done it “twelve times”.
Bec saw this as Gia trying to one up her and responded by telling the table, “Sometimes, what’s good for the hole is not good for the soul.”
She followed this statement by doubling down stating that slow burns make for the strongest relationships while the hot and heavy “crumble”.
This really rubbed Gia the wrong way, feeling the statements were direct jabs at her. “Hold on!” Gia yelled across the table. She was mortified that Bec had implied her relationship may “fizzle out”.
This drama not only did well on linear TV but also for Nine attracted a strong BVOD national average audience of 608,000.
Over on Seven, the broadcast of the Seahawks defeating the Patriots in the Super Bowl attracted a reach of two million people and an average of 634,000.
Network 10 snuck into the top 20, with its most popular entertainment program of the evening I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
