Nine’s shows proved a hot hit for Australians on Wednesday, with Tipping Point in the leading spot just ahead of A Current Affair, which looked at the moving story of a young girl suffering from a rare genetic condition.
Tipping Point: Celebrity Families reaching 1.644 million viewers and an average audience of 659,000. Tipping Point Australia followed close behind on the rankings chart with a national reach of 1.540 million and an average audience of 851,000. The regular Tipping Point aired first at 5pm while the celebrity special aired at 7.30pm.
In Celebrity Families, famous Australian duos were seen competing for a $40,000 charity jackpot, featuring The Floor host Rodger Corser and his daughter Zipporah, Today Extra host Sylvia Jeffreys and her sister Claire, and Nine’s entertainment editor Richard Wilkins with his son, Christian.
Meanwhile, A Current Affair reached 1.483 million Australians, with a Total TV National Average Audience of 996,000, making it the second-highest average audience performer of the night behind news and ahead of the evening’s entertainment offerings.
The show featured the story of young Sasha, who is suffering from a rare, unnamed genetic condition caused by a single DNA mutation that has caused her to lose developmental milestones. Her parents are raising $1 million for a personalised gene therapy to halt the progression of the disease.
Seven also delivered strong numbers across its entertainment slate, with The 1% Club UK reaching 1.465 million viewers and averaging 827,000, while The Chase Australia attracted 1.388 million viewers and averaged 724,000.
Meanwhile, Home and Away continued to hold its loyal audience, reaching 1.383 million Australians and averaging 943,000.
Over on Ten, MasterChef Australia remained the network’s top entertainment performer, reaching 1.075 million viewers and averaging 671,000.
ABC’s 7.30 also had a strong showing, reaching 1.211 million Australians and averaging 760,000, while Hard Quiz pulled in 816,000 viewers with an average audience of 567,000.
