Last night, Aussies curled up with nostalgia-tinged documentaries. Working Class Man premiered on Seven, a documentary exploring the life of Aussie rock singer Jimmy Barnes, while Love Of An Icon: The Legend Of Crocodile Dundee premiered on Nine.
The new doco follows Jimmy Barnes’s rock ‘n’ roll life story. Based on his book Working Class Man, Jimmy tells the next chapter in this new release, taking viewers behind the scenes of his life.
It dives deep into life after his childhood, focusing on his career, struggles with addiction and fame, and eventual path to redemption. It serves as a continuation of the 2018 documentary Working Class Boy, which detailed his traumatic upbringing. The film explores the long-term impact of his childhood, the highs and lows of his rock and roll career with Cold Chisel and as a solo artist, and the support he received from his family to heal.
The documentary brought in a Total TV National reach of 1,674,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 573,000 for Seven.
It was the night of docos if we’ve ever seen one, with Channel Nine premiering Love Of An Icon: The Legend Of Crocodile Dundee. Directed by Delvene Delaney, who starred in Crocodile Dundee II and was the wife of late producer John Cornell, it is a tribute to the creative minds behind the iconic Aussie film. The documentary revisits the creation and enduring legacy of one of the nation’s most beloved films.
It brings audiences a heartfelt look at the making of the 1986 box office sensation, with rare footage and emotional reflections from those who helped bring the story to life.
Featuring contributions from Paul Hogan, Delvene Delaney, Linda Kozlowski, John Cornell, David Gulpilil, Peter Fairman, Russel Boyd, and John Meillon, the film pieces together a tapestry of memories and friendships.
It sees the inclusion of newly restored archival footage uncovered in John Cornell’s personal collection during the recent 4K restoration of the original film. This rare material has been digitised, offering access to candid moments between cast and crew.
