The Block once again topped the ratings in terms of reach last night with a total TV national reach of 2,110,000 and a national average of 1,218,000.
With the competition entering its final days, Han and Can are going all in on their Japanese-inspired front yard, but it’s proving to be more of a nightmare than they ever expected.
The pair have installed a four-metre torii gate towering over their driveway, leading to a winding path through a Zen garden. But while their vision is big, tensions between them are even bigger. After another heated argument, Can breaks down in tears over Han’s bossiness, prompting Han’s dad Lee to step in for emotional support.
When judges Scott Cam and Shelley Craft visit, they’re skeptical of the couple’s niche theming.
“You realise you’ve narrowed your buyer pool by about 50 per cent?” Shelley warned.
As if all of that wasn’t enough, things were about to fall apart even more when their landscaper, Christian, forgets to get his concrete base inspected before pouring.
Dan halts the job, declaring, “There’s nothing right about how that reo has been installed.”
With the clock ticking before the concrete sets, chaos erupts as site supervisors label the project a “dog’s breakfast.”
Somehow, with everyone pitching in, the team gets the concrete poured correctly, and the giant torii gate installed. But while the structure finally stands proud, their neighbours aren’t convinced.
“I don’t get it,” Taz said. “It’s the entrance to Jurassic Park,” Mat joked.
For Han and Can, the episode marks the end of another dramatic week and a “zen” garden that’s anything but peaceful.
