Tipping Point Australia was the most-watched entertainment program coming in third with a Total TV National Reach of 1,600,000 and a Total TV National Average Audience of 852,000, with the quiz show continuing to attract a substantial audience.
Nine’s Thursday night NRL coverage of the clash between the Penrith Panthers and Sydney Roosters delivered a genuine nail-biter, with commentators describing it as the “best game of the season”. The Roosters secured a 12–6 victory in a tight game where neither side was able to establish a notable advantage.
Going into the match, Penrith sat at the top of the NRL ladder, with the Roosters immediately behind them and the two sides level on competition points. The result has now reshaped the top of the competition, with the Roosters moving into first place and the Panthers dropping to second. The match has a national reach of 1,535,000 and an average audience of 761,000.
Seven’s Cricket First Test – Australia v Bangladesh, Day 1 Session 3 was a frustrating watch for viewers. Australia struggled to build momentum after being bowled out for 198, while Bangladesh finished the day strongly at 1/96. The third session was particularly disappointing for Australia as the hosts were unable to make the breakthroughs they needed, allowing Bangladesh to settle in and finish the opening day in a much stronger position. The coverage had a national reach of 1,482,000 and an average audience of 433,000.
The Women’s AFL season opener on Seven also performed solidly, with the Melbourne Demons defeating the Hawthorn Hawks by 19 points, 60 to 41. The match had a national reach of 880,000 and an average audience of 182,000.
ABC also had strong results from Grand Designs, with a national reach of 769,000 and an average audience of 423,000. Back Roads had a national reach of 782,000 and an average audience of 506,000.
