Welcome to B&T’s brand sparkling new series ’10 of the best’ which has been created to celebrate our upcoming Best of the Best Awards presented by Finecast.
These awards are some of the most unique in the industry because they are dedicated to highlighting individual talent in the industry, rather than focusing on an agency or company.
This year’s awards have introduced a new category – ‘Diversity Champion’ – which is here to show the amazing work done by people in the industry who are creating a more inclusive work environment.
You can find a breakdown of all the different categories HERE, along with a downloadable file outlining the full submission criteria.
Come on, you know you want to enter! Head on over HERE to complete your submission.
To inspire you even more to enter Best of the Best, we’ll be publishing some fab interviews with a number of senior folk from Finecast and the broader WPP AUNZ network over the coming weeks.
Opening the batting is Claire Butterworth from GroupM…
Best piece of career advice?
From my first manager almost 20 years ago “Treat everyone the same way whether it be clients, peers or partners. Also, always be honest.”
Best agency in Australia now (that’s not yours) and why?
‘Best’ is tricky. I am really admiring This is Flow’s agility and indie clout, Initiative’s innovative pillars including the Forgotten Upfronts, and the amazing growth and female leadership from Spark.
Best leader in diversity/inclusion and why?
SBS: I deeply admire their long-standing support of multicultural Australia and enriching small communities. They have paved the way for other media companies to follow in their footsteps.
Best mistake you’ve ever made?
Geez hard to say – so so so many to choose from! I always find taking ownership of your mistake and trying to find a solution goes a long way to solving it.
Best brand you’ve never worked on and why?
Apple. They rewrote the playbook and understand the power of advertising.
Best song for inspiration and why?
With two little kids “Let it Go” from Frozen is constantly in my head.
Best mentor in your life/career?
My work mentor is Seb Rennie. He is patient, honest, calm, very knowledgeable and smart but it is how he invests his time and shares his expertise to get the best out of them that sets him apart. He makes me laugh and think – two great qualities in a leader.
Best place on your bucket list you want to travel?
Greece.
Best ad of the past decade?
It’s a little older than 10 years now but the “Dove Campaign For Real Beauty” really shone a light on touched vs untouched images online and the powerful impact it has on society.
Best guilty pleasure?
Far too much of two of my favourite food groups – carbs and sugar.
