TikTok has opened its ad network to advertisers, including those in Australia, wanting to target users in the United States.
The off-platform audience network, which spans almost 400,000 apps globally, was launched by TikTok’s parent company ByteDance in 2018 and formerly operated under the name Pangle.
The company announced the networks move at Advertising Week New York on Tuesday.
The TikTok Ad Network allows brands to “extend their campaigns beyond TikTok and reach audiences across a premium network of nearly 400,000 apps worldwide”.
It ultimately sells ads inside TikTok’s own family of apps, as well as third-party apps and includes 44 per cent of the top 100 gaming apps in the US.
And that’s not the only big announcement coming from TikTok.
Buying TikTok Ads Also Made Easier
Alongside the announcement, made at Advertising Week in New York, TikTok also revealed new ways for advertisers to buy and manage campaigns through AI tools.
Advertisers can now use Claude and Perplexity to run TikTok advertising campaigns, making it easier to manage ads from outside TikTok’s own software.
The TikTok for Business MCP server, built on the open Model Context Protocol — an open-source standard that acts like a universal adaptor for AI models to securely connect with external tools — is now available as a connector in AI tools including Claude, Perplexity, Replit, Snowflake and Manus, among others.
This will see advertisers launching and managing TikTok campaigns directly from their Claude chat.
