Thursday TV Wrap: Googlebox Wins The Night, But Footy’s Return Kicks Nine To A Win

The wait was finally over for footy fans last night, with the season opener between the Panthers and Manly (won comfortably by Penrith 28-6) managing a decent 426,000 OzTAM metro viewers for broadcaster Nine.

Gogglebox was once again the pick of the entertainment shows, it did 574,000 and continues to be a winner for 10.

Nine’s 6pm news (874,000) was the most watched show of the night and pipped rival Seven’s offering with 853,000. ACA had 468,000.

Nine won Thursday with 29.3 per cent of all of last night’s eyeballs (all channels). Seven had 24.8 per cent, 10 did 20.9 per cent, the ABC pulled 15.8 per cent and SBS did 8.9 per cent.

Over at 10, First Dates Australia wasn’t getting too much love, it only managed 402,000. The Project had 346,000 and 10 News First did 287,000.

For Seven, its other doers were Home And Away (453,000) and The Chase (438,000). Nine’s Hot Seat pulled 370,000 and Tipping Point did 270,000.

The ABC’s evening ran thus: 7pm news (552,000), 7.30 (440,000) and Foreign Correspondent (277,000).
