After months of build-up, fans of The Bachelor Australia flocked to their TVs last night to see how Nick “The Honey Badger” Cummins would fare with the ladies.
Not only did he deliver some of his classic slang, Cummins delivered big in the ratings, according to the overnight figures for OzTAM.
Last night’s premiere of The Bachelor Australia drew a metro audience of 940,000 – the largest number of viewers for a launch episode in the show’s history. If we compare it to last year’s season launch with Matty Johnson, that episode garnered 846,000 viewers.
If you were one of the few who missed out on last night’s Bachie debut, check out this weird and wacky recap courtesy of Punkee:
The success of Ten’s flagship reality dating show relegated Nine’s The Block to second with 823,000 viewers, while Anh Do’s Brush with Fame on the ABC claimed third with 654,000 sets of eyeballs.
However, “The Honey Badger” effect wasn’t enough for Ten to win the night, with the network’s audience share (22 per cent) behind Nine (26.1 per cent) and Seven (27 per cent), while the ABC (16.7 per cent) and SBS (8.1 per cent) finished in fourth and fifth respectively.
