Thrifty has paired Australia’s Strongest Man with an Australian Tetris champion in a new campaign via creative communications agency CampaignLab, aiming to take some of the stress out of moving house.
Dubbed ‘Moving Champs’, the campaign brings together Bradman Houston, Australia’s Strongest Man 2026, and Australian Tetris Champion Fura, combining brute strength with strategic packing to help Aussies navigate moving day.
The duo will join a professional moving crew on real household moves across Sydney from 16 to 18 October, sharing lifting techniques and vehicle-packing hacks along the way.
The campaign draws on consumer research highlighting the common frustrations of moving house. According to the findings, 62 per cent of recent movers have struggled to fit all their belongings into a vehicle, while 37 per cent have injured themselves during a move. Half also reported having a moving-day argument that caused lasting tension.
CampaignLab founder and director Andy Scales said the idea was built around the two skills that can make or break moving day: lifting heavy items and fitting everything into the truck.
“We’ve all got a moving day horror story, usually the moment we find out the fridge going down the stairs is heavier than our optimism,” Scales said.
“Moving comes down to two skills most of us have never been taught, lifting and making it all fit. So we hired the national champion of each.”
Thrifty APAC vice president Damien Shaw said the campaign was designed to show how the right vehicle and some practical advice could make moving less stressful.
“Most people aren’t Australia’s Strongest Man or a Tetris champion, and they don’t need to be,” Shaw said.
“Moving doesn’t have to be the most stressful thing you do all year. With the right size Thrifty truck, a bit of planning and a few tips from experts, it’s a lot more doable than people think.”
Each Moving Champs booking includes Thrifty truck hire and a professional moving crew, with Houston and Fura joining selected moves across the three-day activation.
For those who miss out, the campaign will also share the pair’s lifting and packing advice through the Thrifty Moving Champs website.
Sydney residents can request a free removal service and truck hire for moves taking place between 16 and 18 October via Thrifty’s Moving Champs website.
