The Perth Bears has finally unveiled its logo before its inaugural NRL season in 2027.
The logo which stays true to its North Sydney Bears roots, whilst giving a nod to Perth was created by die hard North Sydney fan and graphic designer Dave Carnovale.
“The Perth Bears are the most exciting story in Australian sport and we have taken our time to make sure we get this right,” said Perth Bears CEO Anthony De Ceglie.
“The Perth Bears are a new club; but that will never change the fact that the birthplace and spiritual home of the ‘Bears’ in rugby league will always be North Sydney.
“We’re proud that our Bear has been developed from within North Sydney but with an eye on the future.
“We truly believe it represents something that both North Sydney fans and West Australian fans can truly get behind.”
On the design, Carnovale said he wanted to create a responsible evolution using the Bears DNA.
“This logo represents the restoration of the Bears’ place in the game they helped create, resulting in a timeless symbol that bridges heritage with future-readiness,” he said.
On his design becoming a reality, Carnovale said it was a huge honour.
“They are heading into such an exciting new chapter in Perth, just as the NRL is going global and I’m looking forward to seeing my sons recognise ‘daddy’s drawing’ out in the world.”
Perth Bears head coach and NRL legend Mal Meninga echoed the importance of paying homage to both the history North Sydney and the fact that the Perth Bears is a new club.
“This is one club, one family, across two coasts. This Bear honours the proud history of the Bears while embracing the energy of Western Australia,” he said.

The new Bears logo follows the refreshed Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs and Brisbane Broncos logos. However, the Perth logo has been a lot more receptive with NRL fans alike. Fans took to Instagram to express their distaste on both the refreshed logos. “Did someone just get ChatGPT to do this one up? How did we go from iconic to mid?” One particular user said on Brisbane’s reimagined crest.
Away from the logo, the Perth Bears has been extremely busy on and off the field over the past couple of months. The organisation has begun building its 2027 roster locking in numerous superstars including Melbourne Storm players Tyran Wishart and Nick Meaney. Off the field the Western Australia challenger brand has locked in mammoth deals with Budget Direct, New Balance, Cash Converters and SCA.
