Australia and New Zealand’s leading online fashion, sports and lifestyle destination, THE ICONIC, has announced the appointment of Andrew Poole as the retailer’s General Manager, Sport.

Commencing in the newly created role this month, Poole’s appointment is the latest milestone from THE ICONIC doubling down on its Sports category.

The past twelve months have marked a period of significant growth for THE ICONIC Sport, with both an increase in assortment and amplified marketing investment in full funnel integrated campaigns.

Poole’s role as General Manager, Sport highlights THE ICONIC’s continued commitment to expand and evolve its Sports offering, with Poole responsible for leading a cross-functional and customer-focused team.

Poole has recently returned from the US, where he was Senior Sales Director for Nike Sportswear for four years.

In this role, Poole drove commercial functions and growth for the business through a customer-centric market strategy, recruiting and optimising high performance teams.

Prior to this, Poole managed the full P&L for Nike Pacific across merchandise, tech, marketing, supply chain, finance sales and HR.

He further brings e-commerce management experience, having been integral in the creation of Nike Australia’s e-commerce business: nike.com.au.

With a career spanning almost three decades of brand and performance management, Poole has also worked for Unilever Australia across their portfolio of product groups.

He said, “I am extremely honoured to be joining THE ICONIC, to lead the Sports category team. The opportunity to apply my retail and e-commerce sports experience to a disruptive retailer like THE ICONIC makes this role an incredibly exciting prospect.”

“THE ICONIC has driven unrivalled customer loyalty and market growth and I look forward to supporting them as they continue on this impressive trajectory.”

Gayle Burchell, Chief Category Officer, THE ICONIC, continued, “we are thrilled to welcome Andrew to THE ICONIC team after an extensive global search to fill the newly created role of General Manager, Sport.”

“By being truly customer centric and curating a world-class offering, our sports category is an integral part of our business. We can’t wait for Andrew to bring his wealth of expertise as we deliver further strength to this category.”

Erica Berchtold, CEO, THE ICONIC, further added: “THE ICONIC serves millions of customers every year and the last 12-months have marked a period of significant growth.”

“While we’ve already achieved a number of impressive milestones in the sports arena, including access to what is arguably the most extensive range of sporting footwear and apparel in ANZ, we’re only getting started when it comes to the unrivalled value we can deliver our brands and customers as we continue to define the future of Australian and New Zealand retail.”
