Shining a light on the problems and immense opportunities for rural and regional Australia, The Daily Telegraph will host its fourth annual Bush Summit in Griffith New South Wales on Friday, 26 August 2022.

The nation’s most powerful decision makers and thought leaders will come together to discuss the threats to regional industry, agriculture, business and community leaders and propose practical solutions to ensure ongoing prosperity in regional NSW.

The Daily Telegraph Editor Ben English said it was a measure of the Bush Summit’s stature that Prime Minister Anthony Albanese had cleared his calendar to attend.

“In just four years, The Daily Telegraph Bush Summit has become a compulsory event on the calendar for anyone with a stake in rural and regional Australia,” he said.

“We are very proud that the Bush Summit has brought about lasting and profound reforms that have bettered the lives of people in the country.”

Mr English said he was especially excited to be holding the 2022 summit in Griffith, in the heart of the nation’s food bowl.

“The timing couldn’t be better as city residents grow increasingly aware of the critical role the bush plays to all our welfare,” he said.

NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet will also attend the Summit, where a range of issues including food supply chains, jobs, energy, regional development, services and infrastructure will be discussed.

The full-day summit will feature an impressive line-up of speakers including:

  • Prime Minister Anthony Albanese
  • NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet
  • Deputy Leader of the Federal Opposition Sussan Ley
  • Leader of the Federal National Party David Littleproud
  • Minister for the Environment and Water Tanya Plibersek
  • Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Minister for Emergency Management Murray Watt
  • Optus Managing Director, Enterprise & Business Gladys Berejiklian
  • Secretary-General OECD Mathias Cormann
  • Ambassador of Ukraine to Australia Vasyl Myroshnychenko
  • Ampol Chief Executive Officer Matt Halliday
  • Origin Energy CEO Frank Calabria
  • SunRice CEO Rob Gordon
  • CSIRO CEO Dr Larry Marshall
  • National Farmers’ Federation President Fiona Simson
  • Charles Sturt University, Director Southern NSW Drought Innovation Hub Cindy Cassidy

To expand the reach of this year’s Bush Summit, Australia’s leading rural masthead, The Weekly Times is supporting the event.

The Daily Telegraph Bush Summit 2022 sponsors include major partners Ampol, Optus and Origin Energy; along with supporting partners Santos, Transgrid and Woolworths.

The Daily Telegraph worked with SEC Newgate on speaker and program management.

The Daily Telegraph Bush Summit runs from 9.00am to 4.30pm on Friday, 26 August 2022. The event will be live streamed and available to watch on Sky News and The Daily Telegraph.
