Telstra today announced Telstra Plus, a new rewards program that will give customers the opportunity to earn points on their monthly Telstra spend and use them to get discounts on new products and technology.
Launching the new program at the Telstra Melbourne Discovery Store in Bourke St this morning, Telstra CEO Andy Penn said in addition to discounts on products and tech, Telstra Plus would also deliver more entertainment benefits and other rewards.
Penn said: “Australians have more choice than ever before when it comes to their telco provider and millions of our customers choose to join and stay with Telstra for their connectivity, technology and entertainment needs.
“In addition to the better value we provide our customers through our larger network coverage and data speeds, we’re upping the ante through rewarding our customers for their loyalty over time.
“Many of our customers have been with us since before the days of internet and mobile phones and, as we start to unlock the latest generation of technology through 5G, Telstra Plus is our way of saying thank you for being with us today as we move through an exciting time.”
Penn added: “The first 5G devices will be available with Telstra soon, opening up even more opportunities for Australians to get more out of life through technology and helping our customers take advantage of all our network has to offer.”
Telstra customers can sign up to be a member of Telstra Plus from today with bonus points being given to customers that sign up before 30 June 2019.
From 14 May, Telstra Plus members will begin to accumulate points that they can later exchange for discounts on the latest devices and accessories.
Members will also have access to benefits such as discount sport and movie tickets, pre-sale tickets, complimentary extras and VIP services.
Customers will be able to use their points when the Telstra Plus rewards online store opens later this year.
It will feature some of the latest technology and most popular devices and accessories available in Telstra’s retail stores.
Penn said the Telstra Plus launch was an Australian telco first, and the next step in Telstra’s T22 strategy to radically simplify its product offerings and build more freedom and flexibility into its plans.
He said: “It follows a number of customer-first initiatives under T22, including the removal of excess data charges on mobile plans, an expanded suite of add-ons to consumer plans and the introduction of no lock-in fees across a range of business and home broadband services.
“This will culminate in the launch of 20 no lock-in plans in June.”
Since 2013 Telstra customers have enjoyed real value through the Telstra Thanks program, with over 13 million discounted movie and two million discounted concert tickets sold.
Penn said Telstra Plus was a huge step up, with around eight million Telstra consumer customers getting the opportunity to join the new program.
He said: “Every service, subscription or hardware repayment will see customers earn points towards new technology, and we think that’s a pretty powerful offer.”
