Australian paint brand Taubmans, in collaboration with independent creative agency Sunday Gravy, has launched a new brand platform, ‘Making Painters’, reasserting the brand as the ally of everyday Aussie painters.
Rather than leaning into the renovation fantasy of the category, the platform embraces the lived-in truths behind every project: inherited colours that make us wince, flaking fences that quietly shame us, walls kids relentlessly annihilate.
Taubmans doesn’t gloss over those challenges but rather builds its products around them. They are designed for real Australian life with one clear ambition: to turn hesitation into the confidence to pick up a brush and get stuck in.
Ant White, co-founder and CCO at Sunday Gravy said: “Painting isn’t easy. What’s the right prep, the right product. There’s pressure, so people put it off,”
“Making Painters, owns that human truth and positions Taubmans as the ally that makes starting feel possible. Instead of pretending painting is effortless, we sit honestly inside the chaos, humour and warmth of real Australian homes.”
At the heart of the campaign is a series of films directed by Good Oil’s Novemba.
Lenna Boland senior creative at Sunday Gravy said: “When you start a spot with the word ‘Booger’, you know it’s going to hold attention,”
“Especially for parents whose walls have been absolutely ravaged by them. That human insight was our starting point. Taubmans has seen it all, every wall, every wipe. Making Painters recognises that initial doubt, then shows the shift that happens when you’ve got the belief to give it a go.”
Alex Crampton, Senior Creative at Sunday Gravy added:“As soon as they open the tin, we wanted audiences to feel an energy shift,”
“The tricky corners. The beads of sweat. The effort. And the payoff and ultimate satisfaction that comes from getting it done.”
The campaign launches nationally across TV, OOH, Online Video, Social, Radio, PR and in-store.
