Sunday TV Wrap: Seven Finds A Winner With Little Big Shots, As It’s A Tough Night For Ten

The eventual debut of Seven’s young talent show Little Big Shots has proven a ratings success for the network pulling an impressive 1.67 million viewers on its debut last night.

Seven delayed the launch of the show back in mid-July, fearing it would be smashed in the ratings by Nine’s all-conquering Ninja Warrior.

And it appears to have been a shrewd move by network bosses with the Shane Jacobson-hosted talent show giving Seven 35 per cent of the audience share last night according to OzTam numbers.

Nine was second with 29.4 per cent and the ABC again beat Ten with 15.9 per cent. Ten had a disappointing night managing just 13.2 per cent and the SBS had 6.6 per cent.

In the other entertainment shows, Nine’s The Block was again strong managing 1.08 million and Ten’s Survivor struggled to 607,000.

It was good news for Seven in the current affairs department last night, too. Its 6pm news bulletin beat rival Nine (1.41 million versus 1.16 million). And Sunday Night (966,000) outlasted Nine’s 60 Minutes (755,000).

Over at Ten, its Sunday night debut over The Project proved a bit of a flop, managing only 327,000 viewers.

When it came to the battle of the endless Diana specials, Seven’s Diana: A Love Affair (620,000) easily beat SBS’s Diana and the Paparazzi (207,000).

The ABC’s night went like this: ABC News (715,000), Midsomer Murders (634,000) and Grand Designs New Zealand (516,000), Force of Nature with Brian Cox (212,000).
