Sunday TV Wrap: Origin Pulls 2.09 Million Footy Fans For Nine

Sunday TV Wrap: Origin Pulls 2.09 Million Footy Fans For Nine

Nine’s Sunday Origin experiment probably hasn’t been the monster hit the network would’ve hoped after it pulled 2.09 million viewers last night.

Despite being an absolute corker of a game (won by the Blues 18-14), last night’s numbers were down on its usual Wednesday night time slot. The first game, in Melbourne, pulled 2.35 million viewers.

However, it should be noted that the numbers are metro TV viewers only and don’t include pubs, clubs and regional areas.

Nine won the night with 39.1 per cent audience share, Seven had 24.8 per cent, Ten struggled to 13.9 per cent, the ABC had 11.7 per cent and SBS pulled 10.5 per cent.

In the battle of the reality shows, House Rules (948,000) beat MasterChef (731,000).

Seven’s 6pm news bulletin (1.16 million) held out Nine’s efforts (1.07 million).

Seven’s Sunday Night (496,000) and Ten’s The Project (434,000) both suffered at the hands of the footy.

The World Cup delivered some ratings goodness to SBS, its coverage of England’s 6-1 drubbing of Panama pulled 566,000.

Over at the ABC, its evening ran thus: ABC News (695,000), Mystery Road (525,000) and Grand Designs New Zealand (514,000).
