Study: 51 Per Cent Of Americans Agree The Media Is Too Tough On President Trump

A new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll has found that 51 per cent of Americans think the US media’s coverage of Donald Trump since he won Presidency has been too critical of him and his performance.

However, 41 per cent believed that the coverage of Trump had been fair and objective. While a further six per cent said the media hadn’t been critical enough of his performance since talking office.

Fifty three per cent also believed that the media had exaggerated problems in the Trump administration, while 45 per cent disagreed with the statement.

Trump regularly berates the media, refuses to take questions from journalists he doesn’t see as sympathetic and has even banned some news outlets – The Guardian, BBC and CNN – from media briefings.

It’s unclear what impact this had on the Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll.

When people were asked which news sites they regularly visited, it found readers of conservative media such as Fox News were more sympathetic to the President. Some 79 per cent of Fox readers agreed that the media had exaggerated the problems of his administration.

Interestingly, 40 per cent of readers of the more liberal MSNBC also agreed that the media had been biased towards Trump since he became President.
