Starbucks Customer To Sue For $US5 Million For Too Much Ice In The Iced Coffees!

In yet another case of the “only in America” comes news today that an aggrieved Starbucks customer is set to sue the coffee chain $US5 million ($A6.5 million) for putting too much ice in its iced coffee beverages.

The latest legal threat to the coffee chain comes only weeks after two Californians announced plans to sue because they felt there wasn’t enough milk in the lattes.

According to the latest claimant, a Ms Stacy Pincus, Starbucks says there should be 720mls in the chain’s iced coffees. However, the super sleuth has deduced that by adding too much ice the drinks actually work out more like 420mls. Ms Pincus’ case is a class action, representing anyone who bought a cold drink from Starbucks in the US since 2006.

“A Starbucks customer who orders a Venti cold drink receives only 14 fluid ounces (414mls) of that drink — just over half the advertised amount, and just over half the amount for which they are paying,” the 29-page complaint says, according to reports in UK’s The Telegraph.

“In the iced coffee example, a Starbucks customer who orders and pays for a Venti iced coffee, expecting to receive 24 fluid ounces (709mls) of iced coffee based on Starbucks’ advertisement and marketing, will instead receive only about 14 fluid ounces of iced coffee.”

However, Starbucks isn’t taking Pincus’ bait. It’s said that the amount of ice is variable and it will remake any drink that a customer deems as unsatisfactory.

It’s been a tough trot for the coffee chain of late. Not only has it endured plummeting revenues, closed stores, aggrieved and litigious customers, it recently copped a social media wrath after a store in Saudi Arabia banned women from entering.
