Spotify Kids, the new standalone app from Spotify, is launching in beta today in Australia.
The new app is exclusive to Spotify Premium Family subscribers and designed specifically for kids ages 3 and older, developed with safety and privacy top of mind. It’s an ad-free playground of sound, bursting with colour – a walled garden where young listeners can explore singalongs, soundtracks and stories either on their own, or with the family.
Each market will have access to more than 130 carefully-curated playlists spanning kid favourites from Disney to Nickelodeon to Hasbro. For Australia, local artists like The Wiggles, 5 Seconds of Summer, Guy Sebastian, SIA, Jessica Mauboy (and more) are featured with their own playlists.
Local music also features heavily across playlists like Pop Hits AU, featuring Baker Boy, Jessica Mauboy, Guy Sebastian, Illy, Hilltop Hoods, and Classic Australian Songs, which features iconic Aussie childhood songs Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree and Waltzing Matilda.
It’s great for kids, but it’s also pretty great for parents who will love sharing songs from the Australian Rock Hits playlist featuring rock legends AC/DC, Paul Kelly, Crowded House, and INXS.
Now that children have their own app for listening, parents will get their own Spotify accounts back – freeing them of the lullabies, bedtime stories and ‘Baby Shark’ renditions that once dominated their listening charts. Now, the youngest members of the family can build their own distinct taste profile with music and audio just for them – and dance to the beat of their own drum.
