South Australia Leads Growth In Marketing & Comms Roles: SEEK

The number of job advertisements on SEEK for the marketing and communications sector rose two per cent in January 2017 compared to the same period last year, with South Australia leading the growth.

According to the job site, South Australia experienced a 29 per cent increase in ads for marketing and communications roles, while the ACT was not far behind with 26 per cent growth.

Victoria was next best with seven per cent growth, followed by Western Australia and Queensland, which both saw a three per cent rise in marketing and communications job ads on SEEK.

Meanwhile, NSW saw a year-on-year decline in the number of ads for these types of roles, down two per cent in January.

Michael Ilczynski, managing director for SEEK Australia and New Zealand, noted that despite there being more job growth across the country for marketing and communications professionals, NSW still offers the most opportunities for the sector.

Trade marketing was the fastest-growing job sub-category in Australia’s marketing and communications industries – up 26 per cent last month compared to the same period 12 months prior – followed by marketing assistant/coordinator roles (27 per cent), brand management roles (13 per cent) and internal comms roles (11 per cent).

The most in-demand marketing communications professionals on SEEK in January were digital and search marketers, with the annual average advertised annual salary for this type of role at $84,752.

Marketing and communications specialists were the next most in-demand with an annual average advertised annual salary of $85,621, followed by marketing assistants/coordinators ($60,689).
