Recruiter Hays has released its latest “in demand” jobs for Australia’s marketing and digital sector with the usual suspects looking like scoring the fatter pay cheques.
According to Hays’ January to June 2020 Jobs Report social media and SEO digital marketers are the most in-demand in the category.
That’s followed by digital content managers, communications managers, marketing insights analysts and PR specialists.
According to the report, the category is facing a “massive talent” gap due to a “mismatch between the skills employers need and those jobseekers possess”.
The report noted: “A gradual shift away from traditional band marketing to a data-driven, highly analytical marketing role has left a skills gap at the mid-level. Employers expect generalists to possess integrated digital skills to lead and execute marketing strategy, however, today’s mid-level candidates began their career in more siloed roles and are therefore required to quickly up-skill to remains relevant.”
It also noted that marketers are increasingly “committing to more in-house resources rather than outsourcing to specialised agencies”.
Other jobs Hay’s noted were increasingly in demand included senior graphic designers, bid and tender writers, e-commerce co-ordinators, internal communication specialists, media advisers and community engagement officers.
