Apple’s Far Out launch event saw a number of new items revealed to the public for the first time, and allies and enemies of the tech giant alike have headed to social media to voice their disappointment and complaints.
The new iPhone 14 was announced overnight as part of the launch, as well as its Pro, Pro Max and Plus counterparts, and while some of the upgrades look legitimately interesting the general consensus appears to be that not enough has changed.
The lack of updates in the 14 model is likely a ploy to push more users towards buying a Pro or Pro Max, which feature a significant number of exclusive upgrades, but for Aussie buyers that will come at a staggering cost of $1749 ($1899 for the Max).

The roasts online have come thick and fast, with many users critiquing the base model in particular for appearing fairly identical to the iPhone 13 (with some new colour schemes added), while others were simply disappointed at the lack of major tech developments across the series.

Meanwhile, on the wristband side of things, both the Apple Watch Series 8 and the Apple Watch Ultra made their debuts during the launch, and while both include bigger screens and better battery life the differences once again appear niche.
Social media users were particularly unhappy with the price hike of the Ultra – the starting price will be US$799, or AU$1299 – given the apparent lack of technical improvements, with one user joking that at such a cost it had “better turn me into Ben 10”.

Meanwhile, Samsung appears to have clapped back with a reference to its Galaxy Fold4 and Flip4 series:
