Data warehousing company, Snowflake, announced major innovations aimed to help customers have easier experiences with their data.
The largest of the announcements is Snowflake adding Python to its range of programming languages in Snowpark, Snowflake’s developer framework.
Snowflake say this is to provide developers more flexibility when working with data and facilitate a simpler environment where less work is required to achieve their desired outcomes.
SVP of Product at Snowflake, Christian Kleinerman said: “As with Snowpark for Java and Scala, Snowpark for Python is natively integrated into Snowflake’s engine so users can enjoy the same security, governance, and manageability benefits they’ve come to expect when working with Snowflake.
“As we continue to focus on mobilising the world’s data, Python broadens even further the choices for programming data in Snowflake, while streamlining data architecture.”
Snowflake has also announced innovations allowing customers to improve operating globally.
Some of these innovations include cross-cloud account replication, allowing automatic synchronisation across clouds and regions so data is continuously available while ensuring point in time consistency with the primary region.
Other innovations to improve operating globally include improved replication performance and expanded governance capabilities and integration.
Snowflake also announced additional capabilities that will help customers build faster.
Also, a, “try before you buy,” option will be added to the data marketplace to simplify the process for commercialising data products.
Kleinerman said: “These latest innovations are built with the goal to help our customers continue advancing the state of the art in technology and redefine what’s possible in terms of business outcomes.”
Head of Digital Solutions at Siemens Global Business Services, Matthias Egelhaaf added: “From data lake to data mesh architectural patterns, Snowflake is the infrastructure that enables us to bring all of our data together for both global business operations and functional use cases.
“With Snowflake, we have an agile platform that evolves as our business needs change. Snowflake Data Cloud is a key element of our data strategy.”
Snowflake currently have thousands of customers across many industries, including 212 of the 2021 Fortune 500, that use the Snowflake Data Cloud.
The new innovations are still currently in private preview.
