Seven’s Sunrise Ambushed By Another Mob Of Protesters, As Host Takes Swipe At Nine

It appears Sunrise has an ability to attract indigenous protesters, with this morning’s episode of Seven’s brekkie show again interrupted by a group of activists.

Sunrise hosts Samantha Armytage, David Koch, Natalie Barr and Mark Beretta were hosting the show on the beach at the Gold Coast this morning to coincide with Seven’s Commonwealth Games coverage, when a large group of angry activists disrupted proceedings.

The protesters could be heard chanting their support for Aboriginal land rights, which has been happening up and sown the coast, and throughout the Games.

The protest is the second one that Sunrise has faced in as many months, after a mob gathered outside the show’s studios last month in anger over the now infamous Sunrise segment on the adoption of Aboriginal children.

Visibly frustrated, the Sunrise hosts tried to play down the protest by addressing it a couple of times during the program.

According to news.com.au, Armytage also had a go at Nine off-air when its news crew appeared at the beach to cover the story.

“Big clap for Channel Nine. It’s the only way they can get some ratings on TV,” she said.

Sunrise also apologised to viewers on social media for not being able to make its signature ‘Cash Cow call’ this morning due to the protest.

Seven declined to comment when contacted by B&T.
