Rocky Ranallo Launches ADEPT To Sharpen In-House Creative Teams’ Thinking

Rocky Ranallo, one of Australia’s most decorated and respected creative directors, has launched ADEPT, a specialised 10-week course designed to bridge the persistent gap between internal creative departments and mainstream advertising agencies.

While most in-house teams are highly committed, they often lack the daily exposure to veteran creative leadership required to turn vague business problems into sharp, persuasive ideas.

ADEPT solves this by developing how a team thinks rather than just what they produce, providing the professional discipline and confi dence normally found only within top-tier agencies.

“Most in-house creative teams are busy, capable, and committed, but the work doesn’t always land,” said Ranallo. “It gets approved and out the door, but it rarely competes head-to-head with strong agency work. That gap usually isn’t about eff ort or intelligence—it’s about access”.

The program is built on the belief that while ideas can come from anywhere, genuine agency-level work requires a specific, highly trained workflow. Participants engage in an intensive agency-style environment, tackling eight creative briefs—including a final project tailored specifically to their own business—while learning to present, defend, and refine their thinking under expert guidance.

This practical, applied approach ensures that the growth in capability shows up immediately in the work, allowing organisations to trust their internal output and significantly reduce their long-term reliance on external outsourcing.

“Agencies are built around highly trained creative directors who have spent decades learning how to turn vague business problems into sharp, eff ective ideas,” Ranallo explained.

“Most in-house teams simply don’t get that level of daily exposure. Businesses end up outsourcing again and again, fi xing output but never building capability. This course is designed to lift internal teams to a genuine agency standard while saving time and money.”

Led by Rocky Ranallo, whose fifty-year career includes twenty years at legendary agency Campaign Palace and leadership roles at BWM and Clemenger BBDO, ADEPT brings world-class mentorship directly to the corporate environment.

Having spent decades training the next generation of industry talent at AWARD school and his own Western Sydney Ad School, Ranallo designed ADEPT specifically for organisations with established teams and a serious ambition to deliver better, more eff ective work.

By fostering a culture of decisive thinking and clearer idea development, ADEPT ensures that in-house teams no longer just get work “out the door,” but create work that truly competes on an agency standard.
