A Current Affair reporter, Ben McCormack, has reportedly been admitted to a Sydney mental health institution following his arrest for child pornography offences last Thursday.
There had been earlier media reports that McCormack had attempted self-harm.
As part of his bail conditions, McCormack had to present himself to Redfern police station in inner-Sydney twice a week.
However, his lawyer Sam Macedone told Downing Centre Local Court his client was unable to meet the bail conditions due to his ongoing mental health assessment, the Daily Mail has reported.
The court also granted a suppression order that meant McCormack’s whereabouts must remain private.
“For his own wellbeing I’m asking the location of where he is be suppressed,’ Macedone told the court.
“Otherwise there will be a media circus outside that institution which will not assist Mr McCormack with his present problems.”
Nine has declined to comment on the ongoing saga.
