Figures from 2022’s second GfK Radio Ratings Metro & DAB+ have just been released, with some very surprising – and not so surprising – results, as Australia once again embraces the norm in post-pandemic life.

In the not-so-surprising news, Ben Fordham continued his dominance over Sydney, as 2GB’s wonder boy claimed the top brekky spot, though Kyle and Jackie O are experiencing some serious growth.

In Melbourne, 3AW reigned supreme, claiming the top spot despite a minuscule drop in listeners. 3AW’s Ross and Russell – although nothing I imagine that will be keeping them up at night.

Meanwhile, The Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show is continuing to grow, 0.6 Baby! Fox’s Fifi, Kev & Nick also climbed to the third spot and is a sign that Fox is really cementing itself as a key player in the radio wars.

James Valentine’s also managed to nab the third spot for the ABC, after replacing Wendy Harmer and Robbie Buck but across the board, ABC ratings were sliding.

Melbourne’s drive slot saw 3AW’s Drive With Tom Elliott tie with 104.3’s Gavin Miller, however, both programs experienced a slight drop in listenership.

In Adelaide, there was a shakeup! With MIX 102.3 claiming the top spot and ABC ADE experiencing a significant drop of 1.9.

It wasn’t all bad news though, ABC’s Breakfast with Ali Clarke also claimed first place and Nova’s, Ben & Liam grabbed a number 2 spot with a 3.5 increase – are they the next Hamish and Andy?

In Perth, 96FM narrowly edged out NOVA 93.7 and NOVA’s Kate, Tim & Joel managed to win drive even with a 3.7 drop.

Up north in Brisbane, NOVA 106.8 would nab the top spot, ahead of ABC BRIS  with B105 landing second place and breaking its tie with ABC- once again you’ll be picking up on the theme that ABC is sliding.

The national drive shows also continued to kick goals, with Nova’s Kate, Tim & Joel scoring the top spot in Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane.
