In a push to drive increased vaccination numbers and reduce the gap in numbers between First Nations people and the general population, New Word Order was tasked with creating one of the first bespoke COVID-19 vaccine websites in Australia.

This new website aims to fill a vital gap in the market by providing vaccine information directly to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

The issues facing QAIHC with regard to the general vaccine rollout included:

  • Too much available information
  • The information was poorly explained
  • Too hard to find as it wasn’t centrally located
  • Concerns It was not culturally safe.

New Word Order adapted a beautiful piece of Indigenous art, created by Jedess Hudson, and used it as the base to develop the look and feel of the new site.

These illustrations seamlessly complemented the content by featuring a clean, uncluttered layout with clear calls to action specifically crafted for the target market.

Gert Geyer, communications officer, QAIHC said: “Working with New Word Order on the website was a great experience.

“The project team were able to hit our insanely tight deadlines and were responsive to the changing scope of the work as we expanded on what was initially required of the website.

“The agency delivered a beautifully designed, culturally safe and user friendly COVID-19 vaccine website for First Nations people in Queensland.

“The project team were able to suggest appropriate solutions to any design problems that arose during the development phase. This collaborative part of the project was a highlight as we relied heavily on the New Word Order team for best practice advice in relation to user experience and digital design.”

Tim Kho, senior account manager at New Word Order, said “We love nothing more than working on projects that make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

“We’re big believers that timing and budget challenges should never get in the way of delivering great results. For this important project, nothing was going to stop us from helping QAIHC become the hub for bespoke COVID-19 vaccine information to Queensland’s First Nations people.

“We loved collaborating with QAIHC on all facets of the project—from the best ways to respectfully use custom Indigenous artwork to the user journeys of the key audiences. The QAIHC team was extremely receptive and trusting of our expertise, which made the experience thoroughly enjoyable.”
