An OkCupid campaign in the US has gone viral for all the right reasons as it mixed politics with sex in an attempt to get people to vote in the upcoming US election.
To amplify the dating apps Voter 2020 badge released this month, OkCupid also launched VILF (Voter I’d Like To F***).
According to the website, registered voters get more love on OkCupid, so now OkCupid is spreading the word in the hopes of getting more people to register and vote this November for the upcoming US election.
The campaign kicked-off with digital and social (with influencer support), and wild postings across Los Angeles and Manhattan have already gone live.
The campaign includes an online video, which spoofs political attack ads.
Since launch, more than 160,000 people across the United States have added the Voter 2020 badge to their OkCupid profiles
Ariel Charytan, Chief Executive Officer at OkCupid said: “Now more than ever, daters want to connect with people who share their values. Over the past few years, people on OkCupid have become more vocal about today’s leading issues — from climate change to voting rights. We have always empowered people to match on what matters to them, and our millions of daters across the United States overwhelmingly prioritize civic engagement when it comes to finding someone they are compatible with.
“So this year, we are thrilled to announce our first-ever Voter 2020 badge, which will allow people to connect over their shared passion for exercising their right to vote. We are also launching our Voter 2020 Stack so singles can easily match with fellow voters, and will be helping people register to vote if they indicate they are not yet registered via our in-app question.”
Melissa Hobley, Chief Marketing Officer at OkCupid added: “OkCupid was thrilled to partner with Mischief for one of the most important moments of the decade. Practicing your right to vote is the biggest turn-on to OkCupid singles today, which is why we launched our Voter 2020 badge this month. Now, we’re using VILF to bring it to life and encourage singles across the nation to register and vote this November, because there’s nothing sexier than exercising your rights to vote.”
Bianca Guimaraes and Kevin Mulroy, co-Executive Creative Directors at Mischief said: “Is the act of voting inherently super hot? Maybe not. Are you far less attractive if you don’t? Of course. This campaign celebrates all the VILFs out there doing their hot, sexy civic duty.”
