Has Rebel Wilson’s successful defamation case against Bauer Media spurred other maligned celebs to follow suit?

Well, apparently it has with Aussie actor Russell Crowe the latest to threaten legal action against Bauer Media’s Women’s Day for apparently publishing “deliberate lies” in its “shit filled pages”.

With Wilson looking at a $7 million payout from Bauer, the publisher – and it’s lawyers – will be keeping a keen eye on the editorial standards of its gossip titles from now on.

Yesterday, the 54-year-old Crowe was fuming following an article that inferred he was in a relationship with 22-year-old actress Sophia Forrest (above). Young Sophia starred alongside Crowe in 2014’s The Water Diviner and is the daughter of mining billionaire Andrew ‘Twiggy’ Forrest.

But Rusty was having none of it, calling Woman’s Day in a series of tweets full of “lies” in its “shit filled pages” and threatening to sue as Rebel Wilson did.

In the article, Woman’s Day said of the apparent relationship between Crowe and Forrest: “Woman’s Day can exclusively reveal that Russell Crowe has been quietly dating new ‘Love Child’ star 22-year-old Sophia Forrest for three months. Friends tell us it’s fast become “serious” after the Gladiator actor recently introduced the actress to his two young sons.”

Bauer has not yet commented on Crowe’s tweets.
