In what the pair say is a world-first, Ben and Liam from Nova 919 are preparing to broadcast their breakfast show from a branded billboard, on top of Rydges South Park in Adelaide’s CBD.
The pair are taking an unconventional approach to advertising for their Nova 919 segment, with Ben and Liam using what’s being described as a “human billboard” that features the presenters broadcasting their show live. The idea is said to have been years in the making.
“We can’t believe we convinced the bosses to give us a billboard to do whatever we want,” Ben and Liam said. “We thought instead of a picture of us, why not chuck our actual selves on there to give people the authentic experience.”
Nova 919’s head of programming, Ben Latimer, said: “I was a little worried when Ben and Liam came to me wanting creative control of one of our billboards, but I must admit I’m very impressed with the idea they’ve come up with.
“I can’t believe they’ve actually been able to make this happen and can’t wait to see how it all comes together.”
Adelaide agency MediaNest has been instrumental in making the marketing campaign possible, Nova Entertainment said. While Rydges South Park has also thrown its support behind Ben and Liam by providing the digital billboard atop its building where they will broadcast live.
“When Ben and Liam came to us with their crazy idea, we wanted to do everything we could to make it happen,” MediaNest managing director Tim Kennedy said. “We pride ourselves on innovative solutions for our clients, so it was an opportunity too good to pass up.
“We’re excited that with the support of the team at Rydges South Park and Nexstage that we could bring the idea to life.”
Ben and Liam will be suspended live from a billboard located on Rydges South Park, at the corner of West and South Terrace, in Adelaide. Listen to Nova 919 for all the action on Thursday, 4 February from 6am to 9am and follow the progress on Nova’s socials.
