NOVA Entertainment has launched new podcast, Occasionally Funny, from Joshua Fox, the creator and host of hit podcast MAFS Funny.
Occasionally Funny sees Fox joined by his new co-host Sam Stanton, the breakout star and fan favourite groom from this year’s season of the reality TV smash, Married at First Sight.
A spin-off of the hugely popular MAFS Funny podcast which has amassed over 4.5 million downloads since launching in January 2025, the new podcast delivers the same irreverent tone fans have come to expect, unpacking everything from dating disasters and reality TV to gay culture and trending moments. Alongside the laughs, Occasionally Funny also covers more serious conversations, including mental health, approached with warmth and honesty.
The reveal of Stanton as Fox’s co-host in today’s episode follows a playful storyline that has unfolded in recent weeks, with Fox’s own mum and Stanton competing for the role as co-host – and listeners ultimately helping Fox choose Stanton.

“Sam is the dream co-host already because his wholesomeness balances my chaos perfectly. Even though we have so much in common, it’s incredible how different we are when it comes to everything, including dating and hookups!” said Fox.
Stanton added, “I don’t have many gay friends, so I’m excited that I’ve become so close with Josh and that we now get to have a laugh but also talk about life as gay men in society these days. I’m also excited to show there’s more to me than ‘sooky Sam,’ which I felt was mostly shown on Married At First Sight.”
“Josh has built a hugely engaged audience around MAFS Funny, because he instinctively understands internet culture and how audiences want to interact with content. Occasionally Funny expands on that in a really natural way. Sam and Josh have great chemistry, and the show gives them room to move beyond MAFS, while keeping the humour and community connection his audience loves,” commented Rachel Corbett, network director for Nova Podcasts.
Occasionally Funny is produced by AIIMS Creator Hub, a partner of NOVA Entertainment since March 2025. New episodes of Occasionally Funny launch every Wednesday, available to listen to on the Nova Player or wherever listeners get their podcasts.
