Network 10 has launched 10+1, a new free-to-air timeshift channel that broadcasts the complete Channel 10 schedule with a one-hour delay.
Available from August 10 on Channel 14 in metro markets, 10+1 is free to watch, requires no internet connection and no subscription.
The channel was created for viewers who find that their evening schedule doesn’t quite align with their favourite programs.
Paramount Australia and New Zealand vice president of sales Grant Madigan said: “The launch of 10+1 is a genuine win for our commercial partners. Advertisers buying Channel 10 in metro markets now automatically extend their campaign reach to a second free-to-air audience, the same premium content, the same ads, one hour later.
“The evidence is clear, timeshift channels meaningfully grow total audience delivery without any additional investment from our partners.
“In a market where every impression counts, 10+1 gives brands two opportunities to connect with viewers across our full schedule – drama, reality, sport, news, entertainment – all in a brand-safe, free-to-air environment.
“For advertisers, that’s incremental reach at no extra cost. Free-to-air television continues to deliver scale, that no other medium can match, and 10+1 makes that proposition even stronger.”
The channel joins a well-established global tradition of timeshift broadcasting. Viewers in the United Kingdom have long had access to ITV1+1, Channel 4+1 and Channel 5+1, while in Ireland RTÉ operates parallel +1 services across its main channels. Across the Tasman, New Zealand’s TVNZ has offered timeshift viewing since 2012, with TVNZ 1+1 and TVNZ 2+1.
Viewers are reminded that for breaking news and live sport, Channel 10 remains the destination for real-time coverage. 10+1 is a timeshifted service and its content will always reflect what aired on Channel 10 one-hour prior.
The new channel 10+1 will be available from August 10 on Channel 14.
