Netflix is reviewing its media planning and buying requirements in Australia.
The global streamer is understood to be considering four agencies, GroupM’s Wavemaker, IPG Mediabrands’ Initiative, S4 Capital’s The Monks and indie Kaimera.
Netflix confirmed the review but declined to elaborate. It has conducted reviews around the APAC region in recent times, including South East Asia and Taiwan, which were won by the Japanese agency Hakhuhodo’s H+.
Industry sources speculate Netflix could have been agitated by Wavemaker’s holding company WPP recently being awarded the Amazon media and e-commerce account across the APAC region.
