The Bachelor‘s host Osher Gunsberg has gotten honest with Abbie Chatfield about a huge lie he told her while filming the finale.
Chatfield was on The Bachelor in 2019, competing for Matt Agnew’s heart. Chatfield made it down to the final two, but ultimately Agnew chose Chelsie Mcleod.
However, while Chatfield was waiting to find out her fate, Gunsberg lied to her all in the name of this business we call show.
News.com.au reported that Gunsberg appeared on Chatfield’s radio show and said: “I have lied to you, and it is the most blatant and most intense lie I have ever told.
“I think probably in all of my years of reality television … When you stood in front of me in South Africa, I knew 100 per cent what was about to happen, and I lied to your face.
“It’s the really hard part of my job is obfuscating the truth in an incredibly emotional moment, and I looked into your eyes … (And I said) ‘He’s excited to see you!’
“I’m incredibly sorry that I lied to you at that moment. I did it for the good of the show … and for a lot of money.”
Chatfield replied graciously and said: “If I won, I wouldn’t have had this career.”
Perhaps, that is the ultimate good news story while Chatfield didn’t find love on the show it was the platform that launched a huge career for her.
