Monday TV Wrap: MasterChef Pips House Rules, But It’s A Sweet Treat For Seven

Proving telly’s one strange old minx, Ten’s MasterChef has returned to the top of the reality heap pile after briefly being dislodged by Seven’s House Rules.

George, Matt and Gary pulled in 850,000 viewers last night for Ten, seeing off House Rules that could only muster 786,000.

Ten’s Have You Been Paying Attention? also did well for the network with 753,000.

But it wasn’t enough to dent Seven’s dominance, the network snaring 27.8 per cent of the eyeballs on the back of House Rules, its 6pm news bulletin (1.11 million), Home And Away (690,000) and The Chase (686,000). Seven’s The Mentor is no longer going backwards, although it’s not going forwards either, managing 416,000.

Nine was second for the night with 26.2 per cent, Ten had 21.4 per cent, the ABC had 17.8 per cent and SBS had 6.9 per cent.

Nine’s best was its news bulletin with 1.06 million, followed by ACA (887,000) and Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation (686,000).

Ten had to quickly pull its episode of Roseanne following all of last week’s dramas and its replacement, a Graham Norton Show replay, could muster just 259,000. While The Project had 590,000.

ABC’s Monday night of news and current affairs went thus: ABC News (737,000), Four Corners (639,000), Australian Story (623,000), 7:30 (622,000), Media Watch (581,000), Q&A (401,000). Over at the SBS, its best was Elizabeth that pulled in 261,000.
