Mamamia has had a standout May on the Australian Podcast Ranker, with the independent women’s media company placing four podcasts in the top 20 including Mamamia Out Loud reclaiming the number one spot.
Mamamia Out Loud jumped one place to top the May ranker, pulling in 1,133,138 monthly listeners across 27 new episodes.
No Filter, also published by Mamamia, was the month’s biggest mover in the top 20, climbing 12 places to land at number eight with 389,341 monthly listeners. The Quicky came in at eighteenth with 259,828 monthly listeners across 42 new episodes. True Crime Conversations rounded out Mamamia’s impressive month at number 20, jumping 10 places with 254,846 monthly listeners.
“This growth is far from a fluke. Our content strategy to build our top show brands and meet our audiences where they are, on the platforms they choose, is paying off. We were the first to push into video podcasting both on Apple and YouTube and I am delighted to see this continuing to resonate with our audiences. These results are testament also to the unique para-social relationship and tireless work from every single one of our hosts who are dedicated to their loyal listener base and in service of their audience,” said Mamamia chief content officer Zara Curtis.
Despite losing the top spot, LiSTNR (SCA) had a solid month of its own, also with four podcasts in the top 20. Hamish & Andy dropped to second with 864,000 monthly listeners with only four episode this month whilst Life Uncut climbed two places to fifth with 428,354 monthly listeners. The Imperfects and Happy Hour with Lucy & Nikki were neck and neck at eleventh and twelfth with 339,201 and 328, 528 month listeners respectively.
“LiSTNR remains the leading commercial podcast network following the release of today’s Triton Podcast Ranker results for May. With more titles in the Australian top 15 ranker and strong year on year growth across its original titles, LiSTNR continues to drive the market,” said Southern Cross Media Group’s managing director of audio John Kelly.
“LiSTNR continues to drive the commercial podcast market as the business evolves to meet shifting advertiser and creator demands. With advancements in Adtech and known audiences, along with strong knowledge of digital behaviours and practices, LiSTNR continues to attract the most engaging local and international content creators, offering advertisers improved campaign results,” Kelly added.
The ABC also featured strongly, with Sky News Australia Update holding steady at third with 493,026. Conversations climbed two places to four with 452,235 monthly listeners while ABC News Top Stories dropping one place down to sixth. ABC News Daily held rank at thirteenth.
The biggest fall in the top 20 belonged to The Daily, the New York Times podcast, which dropped eleven places to fifteenth. True Crime Conversations made the equal-biggest leap, climbing ten places to round out the top 20.
One notable absentee from the ranker remains The Karl Stefanovic Show. The independent podcast has built a significant Australian audience, but won’t appear in the rankings until Stefanovic opts into the measurement system, something he has not yet to done
“With 55 per cent of Australians now consuming podcasts each month – up from 52 per cent in 2025 – the growth of this medium is undeniable. The Ranker is the industry’s response to that scale: verified, independent measurement that gives publishers, agencies and advertisers a single source of truth to plan and invest with confidence,” said CRA chief executive Lizzie Young.
The Ranker released by Commercial Radio & Audio (CRA) in partnership with Triton Digital is an official, third-party verified podcast measurement system, governed by a cross-industry Steering Committee and backed by strong collaboration across commercial, independent, and non-commercial publishers.
The Australian Podcast Ranker is a monthly snapshot of the top 300 podcasts listened to by Australians, and the top 300 Australian podcasts.
