Kill Boring Dead Offers One-Hour Agency Careers For ‘Budding Creatives & Curious Punters’

KBD co-founders.

Social-first creative and advertising agency Kill Boring Dead(KBD) is offering one-hour agency careers to those interested in giving it a go, but wanting to commit to a short time first.

The agency is opening its its Collingwood HQ, as part of Melbourne Fringe 2026, in a move which gives “budding creatives and curious punters a desk, a role and a taste of agency life, for an hour”.

The experience called ‘Work Here For One Hour’ is an immersive, interactive comedy experience that puts audiences inside a ‘fictional’ agency adventure.

For aspiring creatives, it’s an opportunity to step inside an independent agency, meet the people behind the work and experience the energy of tackling the brief of a recent client win together,  with a generous helping of Fringe absurdity.

Recent account wins for the agency include adding two brands from SunRice Group’s ANZ portfolio to its client roster, while extending its existing partnership with Always Fresh for another year.

Across four nights, guests will clock in, join the team and get stuck into meetings, ideas and the entertaining business of helping to create a great idea from scratch. With fewer than twenty desks available each night, there’s no hiding at the back pretending to check emails.

For KBD, it’s a chance to put its creative convictions into practice, turning its own workplace into a participatory show where the audience helps shape what happens next.

“People see the finished campaigns, but they rarely get to experience the conversations, collaboration and unexpected ideas that get you there,” said Marcus Willis, co-founder and CEO of Kill Boring Dead.

“We thought opening our doors for Fringe was a pretty good way to change that. Creativity and art matter to us, and this is a chance to invite people in and make something fun together. If you’ve ever wondered whether agency life is for you, come and give it an hour. The career commitment is refreshingly low.”

Event details for those interested in attending:

Guests should arrive ten minutes early for onboarding, as even a one-hour career deserves a proper introduction.

  • When: Tuesday 13 to Friday 16 October, 6:00pm, 60 minutes
  • Where: Kill Boring Dead HQ, 3/29 Cromwell Street, Collingwood VIC 3066 (look for the KBD name, there is more than one 3/29)
  • Tickets (sold by Melbourne Fringe) : $19 to $35.50 plus a $5.50 booking fee
  • Access: 18+, wheelchair accessible · Book: melbournefringe.com.au/whats-on/events/work-here-for-one-hour
