Kayo Sports is adding even more footy to its content slate, revealing it will be covering the premier high-performance pathways competition VFL.

As part of the agreement, Kayo will stream 16 matches, at least one match per round, across the opening 13 rounds of the Smithy’s VFL home and away season.

A number of Kayo VFL broadcast games will serve as curtain-raisers to AFL matches, giving fans the opportunity to watch their favourite VFL and AFL teams back-to-back on the platform.

In addition, Kayo will also broadcast the VFL Finals live.

“As partners in the continued growth of Australian sport, Foxtel Group invests more than $1 billion each year in sports rights and production to bring fans closer to the games they love while helping to driving greater participation at grassroots levels,” said Foxtel Group executive director of commercial, sport, Adam Howarth.

“Adding VFL coverage to our extensive AFL and AFLW line-up on Kayo SPORTS and FOXTEL supports the talent and pathways that underpin Australian football. The VFL plays a vital role in the AFL ecosystem and the expansion of our partnership with the AFL to include VFL will help increase visibility for the competition while strengthening the development layers that keep the game thriving.”

“Adding the VFL to Kayo’s AFL schedule continues Foxtel Group’s commitment to supporting the AFL in growing and expanding the game. From supporting AFLW by broadcasting every single game since the competition’s inception to backing the league’s 19th team, the inclusion of the VFL is another step in that ongoing partnership to broaden the reach and visibility of Aussie Rules football,” commented AFL executive general manager of finance, broadcast and infrastructure, Matthew Chun.

“We are thrilled to be expanding the broadcast coverage of the Smithy’s VFL. This a wonderful result and will bolster the exposure of the competition right across the country.

“The new broadcast deal demonstrates our ongoing commitment to providing football fans with high-quality and accessible coverage and we look forward to working with Kayo SPORTS and our other broadcast partners, to deliver an exciting product for all viewers.”

The VFL joins Kayo’s extensive line-up of Aussie Rules football with Fox Footy, available on Kayo SPORTS and FOXTEL, the only place to watch every moment, team and game of the home and away season live, ad-break free during play, and in 4K.

The Kayo VFL coverage will also be available on FOXTEL, and internationally on WatchAFL.

Kayo SPORTS’ broadcast of the VFL begins on Saturday 21 March when the Richmond Tigers play the Southport Sharks at 10am AEDT.
