JOY Appoints New Head Of Digital & New Art Director

Independent Integrated agency JOY has appointed Mani Marimuthu as head of digital and Kate O’Donnell as art director.

Marimuthu will be responsible for heading up digital transformation projects and leading overall digital offering across JOY’s growing portfolio of clients.

He joins from PhD where he was group digital director leading digital solutions across a number of key brands including Volkswagen, Audi, SKODA, Cupra, and PEPSI CO.

He has more ten years’ experience across digital, including stints with Carat, iProspect and Emitch.

“JOY is an exciting agency doing interesting work with a fantastic set of clients,” said Marimuthu.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to apply my strategic digital experience to help brands grow, and to working closely with the diverse team of experts that JOY have assembled.”

O’Donnell, meanwhile, brings five years’ experience in graphic design, art direction and developing integrated, holistic, strategy-driven campaigns and identities. She was most recently art director for Sydney-based creative agency Now We Collide and has led creative campaigns at ARCHIBALD / WILLIAMS and Cul-de-sac Creative.

JOY has a fantastic client roster and have a tradition of pushing creative boundaries across campaigns. I’m excited to be working with an exceedingly talented team to create one-of-a-kind work that helps our clients stand out and get noticed,” said O’Donnell.

The appointments come of the back of several new client engagements for JOY in 2022, including Brooks Running, LJ Hooker, and 4WD SupaCentre. In July this year Libby Young was appointed as creative director, joining JOY from whiteGREY.

Principal of JOY, Martin Patton said, “We are delighted to be adding leaders of the calibre of Mani and Kate to the JOY team, as we ramp up what has been a tremendous year of growth for the agency. We all know attracting talent has been a challenge for our industry, and to be chosen by talent like Mani and Kate as the best place for them to develop their careers and hone their already impressive skillsets is a huge endorsement for what we are doing at JOY.”

“By pairing the flexibility and agility you can only get with an independent agency, with the range and scale of talent equivalent to a larger group, we are building the new agency of the future: one that is best able to crack the codes of growth for clients,” he added.
