January Agency Wins: Mindshare Storms To Number One, VMLY&R Still Tops For Creative

According to the latest SMI data, the first month of 2019 was a tough one for agencies, with spends down 6.1 per cent year on year. Read B&T’s reporting here.

And now the latest R3 data into new agency wins has confirmed January to be slow, unpredictable and erratic, too. Hence, B&T does urge the month’s numbers be taken with a grain of salt.

When it came to new media wins, the incumbent number one, UM, was nowhere to be seen, replaced by Mindshare in top position.

Highlighting the erratic nature of January’s numbers, Mindshare stormed 19 spots from the month previous to top January’s count.

Initiative polled at number two for media wins. Zenith was third, PHD – up 18 spots – claimed fourth and Carat rounded out January’s top five.

When it came to new creative wins, VMLY&R retained top spot. M&C Saatchi soared 16 spots to take second position, Melbourne indie agency 10 Feet Tall was up 31 spots to take third, Orchard took fourth and Publicis was fifth.
