News.com.au holds the top spot as Australia’s number one news site, according to latest rankings from Ipsos iris for February 2023.

Leading the News category in Australia with the largest and most engaged audience, news.com.au delivered an audience of 12.719 million, reaching one in two online Australians with average time spent on the site per person of 31:40 minutes.

News.com.au, editor-in-chief, Lisa Muxworthy (featured image), said she was thrilled that news.com.au remained the most-read digital news outlet in Australia.

“We have increased the gap with our nearest competitor to a staggering 2.2 million Australians. It is great to see Australians are choosing news.com.au and turning to us every day for breaking news, politics, lifestyle, sports and entertainment.

“We have a very talented team, they understand the audience and this result reflects their hard work.”

But while News.com leads the category with the largest audience, their readership has decreased by -1.1% over the past month.

In second place, we see news.com’s nearest competitor Nine with an audience of 10,516 million, and an average time spent on the site per person of 15:18 minutes.

Another standout news outlet is the ABC, with significant engagement of 29:03 minutes per person.

Ipsos iris is Australia’s new digital audience measurement currency endorsed by Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), the trade association for online advertising in Australia, providing accurate data about the 21 million Australians aged 14+ who access a wide variety of digital content and services across Smartphone, PC/Laptop and Tablet devices.
