Guardian Australia has launched ‘Politics, really’, a new authored daily newsletter led by political editor Tom McIlroy, to helping Australians understand what’s going on in politics and why it really matters.
Delivered every weekday at 5pm AEST, Politics, really will cut through the political spin and unpack one big story a day placing it in the wider context readers need to understand the full story. Readers will also be able to put questions directly to Guardian Australia’s political reporting team through regular AMA editions.
The newsletter is for people who are affected by the decisions made in Canberra, not just those who work there. From household budgets to schools, healthcare, climate and the future of work Politics, really will connect political decisions to Australians’ everyday lives without requiring readers to follow every moment of the parliamentary cycle.
McIlroy will be joined by Guardian Australia’s Canberra team with contributions from Krishani Dhanji, Sarah Basford Canales, Josh Butler, plus Patrick Commins with economic analysis and appearances from senior reporters covering the intersection of politics and populism, climate, Indigenous affairs and more.
The launch of the Politics, really newsletter reflects Guardian Australia’s ongoing investment in building deeper, direct relationships between its reporting teams and readers.
