There is no denying COVID-19 has basically turned our premiers into celebrities and now Melbourne Premier Dan Andrews has his own beer, thanks to The Public Brewery.
You can’t argue with the genius behind The Public Brewery releasing a Dan Andrews inspired beer, ‘Dan Anbrews’ to commemorate Melbourne’s sixth lockdown.
Andrew Croucher, operations manager at The Public Brewery, told B&T that, “We sat around when the lockdown had been extended, we could either laugh or cry, we decided to laugh.”
And so the Dan Andrews beer was born, Croucher added: “We are pre-selling now, it’s blown us all way.”

Andrews became an unlikely ambassador for a beer last year, when he went viral during a COVID-19 press conference.
The Melbourne Premier said: “You won’t be able to go to the pub because the pub is shut.
“That doesn’t mean you can have all your mates around to (your) home and get on the beers, that’s not appropriate.”
However, the Australian public latched onto the phrase, “Get on the beers.” and it became the subject of TikToks, memes and was even remixed into arguably one of the best songs in Australian history, by Mashd N Kutcher.

In fairness to Australians, it was a lockdown and everyone was bored but also it’s not every day the Melbourne Premier says the phrase, “Get on the beers.”
However, Andrew’s isn’t the only Premier getting goods made in their honour. NSW Premier, Gladys Berejiklian does have a candle named after her by The CarePackCo – that is recommended to be burned at 11 am, of course!

However, she is yet to have a beer named after her.
Here at B&T, we love candles, however, we have to admit a beer really does hit the spot in this current lockdown.
